The UCU Summer/Winter School Grants
The UCU Summer/Winter School Grants policy:
- All the full-time UCU students (BA, MA) are eligible to apply for the UCU Grant to support their participation in an International Summer/Winter School of their choice (except students whose Summer/Winter School choices will be scheduled to the summer/winter following their graduation).
- The International Summer/Winter School should be of the high academic quality and fit the specialization/research topic/academic interests/need to improve the foreign language skills of the applicant.
- Students may receive the UCU Grant only once during their studies.
The eligible expenses for the UCU Grant are:
- course fees;
- travel costs;
- accommodation costs.
IMPORTANT! The maximum amount of the UCU Grant is 300 EUR for one student.
The UCU Grants will be distributed on a competitive basis considering the following criteria:
- academic performance of the student;
- the demonstrated value of the School to the student’s studies/skills/research topic;
- the demonstrated relevance of the School to the student’s specialization/research topic/need to improve the foreign language skills;
- preference will be given to the students who are applying for the Schools organized by the UCU International Partner Institutions and Catholic Universities in Europe and worldwide.
IMPORTANT! Depending on the number of applications, Grants will be offered to cover all or part of the expenses. Decisions will be made by the UCU Grant Committee (representatives of the UCU International Office, Centre for Modern Foreign Languages, the UCU Faculties).
Required documents:
- Letter of acceptance from the Summer/Winter School;
- Motivation/Cover letter (the max. of one page summary of how participation in the school will benefit student’s studies/ skills/research);
- Official academic transcripts;
- UCU Grant Application Form (information about the fees, housing and travel costs etc which have to be covered). Please attach the supporting documents showing where the price(s) were found.
- Copy of the first page of international passport
Application deadlines:
The Rolling Deadline for the Summer School Grants is June 20th
- Summer Schools are the Schools held in May, June, July, August or September.
- Applications for the following Grants are rolling starting from March 20th until June 20th, or until funds are depleted.
- Applications submitted after this deadline will not be considered by the UCU Grant Committee.
- It is required that the applications should be sent not more than 2 weeks before the payment deadline for the selected School.
The Rolling Deadline for the Winter School Grants is January 20th
- Winter Schools are the Schools held in December, January, February or March.
- Applications for the following Grants are rolling starting from October 20th until January 20th, or until funds are depleted.
- Applications submitted after this deadline will not be considered by the UCU Grant Committee.
- It is required that the applications should be sent not more than 2 weeks before the payment deadline of the selected School.
The Burning Deadline
- If the payment deadline of the selected School is less than two weeks (from the moment when the applicant receives a Letter of acceptance) it is possible to apply to the UCU International Office for the urgent Grant application review.
IMPORTANT! The applicant must send the following documents in one pdf-file to the UCU International Office (international@ucu.edu.ua). Incomplete or late applications will not be accepted and reviewed by the UCU Grant Committee.
Preparation and reporting:
- UCU International Office provides the applicants with the institutional and advisory assistance in the process of documentary preparation;
- upon return, the students are required to submit a proof of attendance and/or certificate of completion. This must be submitted to the UCU International Office upon arrival;
- upon return, all participants of the Summer/Winter Programs are required to provide the UCU International Office with the feedback which can then be posted on the respective website and Facebook profile.
