Students with disabilities
Erasmus+ gives special importance to guidance, welcoming, physical access, pedagogical and technical support, and especially contributing to the additional costs of students and staff whose physical, mental or health-related conditions are such that their participation in Erasmus+ would not be possible without extra financial support.
UCU commits to ensuring equal access and opportunities to participants from all backgrounds. Therefore, students and staff with physical, mental or health related conditions can benefit from the support services that UCU offers to its local students and staff.
UCU has all the appropriate conditions and facilities for the education and work of people with special needs. UCU has a Center for supporting students with special needs (CSSSN). This Center provides all the necessary assistance and support during the studying period at the university. The support service empowers students with special educational needs and / or disabilities in their daily work and minimizes and/or removes barriers to physical access and learning process at the university through smart adaptations and modifications and individualized support, as well as community awareness about people with disabilities, and participates in guiding the community to develop an inclusive environment at the university. At the request of teachers, the support service distributes special (adaptive) teaching technologies and coordinates university departments’ efforts to meet the educational needs of students, provides services and support to equalize the opportunities for students in learning.

The UCU Emmaus Center and Institute for mental Health are disseminating information about the university’s possibilities for disabled students. UCU promotes and supports the inclusion of people with an intellectual disability in campus life and is the only university in the world where people with intellectual disabilities live together with students in Emmaus house.
Additional funding is available for participants with physical, mental or health-related conditions via the Erasmus+ special needs support. Erasmus+ grants may therefore be higher than the regular study, traineeship or staff grants to offset the specific difficulties faced by the participant. This additional support grant is a contribution based on real costs.
To make your request for the Erasmus+ special needs support, please contact your Erasmus Coordinator at your home International Relations Office.
You can also send the Erasmus+ special needs support request to international@ucu.edu.ua.
