Scholarship for an English study programme „Social Work and Exclusion“ (the Catholic University of Applied Sciences of North Rhine-Westphalia, Münster, Germany)

11 Листопада, 2019international office

The Catholic University of Applied Sciences of North Rhine-Westphalia, Münster, Germany offers 2 scholarships to UCU social work students which amount to a total of 1.650 Euros per student!

Study Period: 23 March 2020 to 23 July 2020.

The study programme is described in the documents English Curriculum 2020, and Social Work and Exclusion 2019.
As an international student, you will study side by side with the local students and be a part of the small family campus. Also, you will be provided special support by student buddies and faculty members. A welcome week and an excursion to Berlin will highlight your studying with KatHO NRW. Within the program, you can obtain up to 30 ECTS. Your learning outcomes will be documented in a transcript of records.

Health Insurance

All incoming students have to furnish the proof, that they have health insurance to cover costs incurred.

Housing

The incoming students can apply for a room in a Catholic dormitory in Muenster. KatHO NRW will send information on the application procedure as soon as we have it ourselves. They will then be selected by the student council of the house. As it is not the management who decides, the applicant has to convince her future housemates by a motivation letter. This letter should express the student’s willingness to live in a community and to engage actively in the social life of the dorm (take meals together, socialize, participate in the programme organized by the students, perhaps initiate an offer herself, e.g. an evening with Ukrainian food). It is the first time, that KatHO NRW cooperates with the Catholic student dorms in Muenster, and it will depend on the success of the 2020 project, if this cooperation can be continued. Thus, in a way, we depend on KatHO NRW partners and their students, who should have good social competences.

Social life on campus

KatHO in Muenster has a buddy system. Each guest will be assigned a German co-student for socializing and for support. Furthermore, Mrs. Katrin Verhorst, International Office, and Mrs. Regine Mueller, scientist, in Muenster will be available, if they need advice.

Scholarship and costs

The scholarship amounts to 1.650 EUR in total, of which 4*400 EUR is considered as a contribution to the expenses for living and 50 EUR as a support for travel. It is important to point out that the scholarship offered is a partial scholarship. For living in Germany, the students will need appr. 300-450 EUR per month in addition to the scholarship. Depending on the students’ lifestyle, the students may need even less (or more) than that. KatHO NRW doesn’t charge study fees. Still, an administrative fee of appr. 200 EUR (to be paid on enrolment) is obligatory. This fee covers the costs for the public transport ticket for Muenster and the state North-Rhine Westphalia (e.g. the train to Cologne). A financial contribution of appr. 75 – 100 EUR is demanded for the excursion to Berlin.

Travel costs

The costs for the flight should be pre-paid by the participant, if possible. The money will be reimbursed on arrival (50 euro). Currently the prizes for the flights are about 35-40 EUR for one direction – to come to Münster you can either take Wizz Air (Lviv – Dortmund) or Ryanair (Lviv – Düsseldorf). From Dortmund or Düsseldorf, the students can use the ticket for public transportation covered by the administrative fee to come to Münster (appr. 1h -1,5h by train).

Mode of payment

KatHO NRW will pay the scholarship in monthly installments. The first installment will be lower because we will deduct the first monthly rent for the room (if interested) as well as the administrative fee from it. It will be given to the student on arrival.

Application Deadline: 20 November 2019

Application procedure:

Please fill in the Application Form (signed only by the applicant) and send the copies of all required documents to international@ucu.edu.ua:

Photocopy of legal ID card or passport
Certificate of Enrolment / Registration of Home University
Current Transcript of Records
Learning Agreement (signed by the applicant and Program Director Yuliya Kokoyachuk)

The students have to sign twice on the form (for the application and for the data protection note).

The best applicants will be invited for the interview that will be held on November 21, 2019. UCU International Office will inform the final results by November 25th, 2019.
